The “Jumbo” is the 39 mm ultra-thin Royal Oak — the line that preserves the exact proportions of Gérald Genta’s original 5402ST of 1972. It covers references 5402, 14802, 15202 and the current 16202, all with no seconds hand, a date at three o’clock and a case slimmer than most dress watches. Within the Royal Oak family, this is the purist’s reference.
Why is it called the Jumbo?
Context is everything. In 1972 a typical dress watch measured 33–36 mm, so a 39 mm steel case looked enormous, and the trade nicknamed the new Royal Oak “Jumbo” almost at once. The name stuck even as the industry overtook it: today the standard Royal Oak is 41 mm and the Jumbo is one of the smaller men’s models in the range. What made the thinness possible was the self-winding calibre 2121, a movement just 3.05 mm tall. Its Jaeger-LeCoultre 920 base also powered the Patek Philippe Nautilus 3700 and the Vacheron Constantin 222 — no other movement family can claim all three founding luxury sports watches. Audemars Piguet retired the 2121 with the last 15202s in 2021 and replaced it with the in-house calibre 7121 in the 16202, keeping the case at 8.1 mm.

Super clone availability
Grand Watch Club stocks 15 Jumbo super clones priced from £434 to £1,054. The spread covers the steel 16202ST, the openworked 16204 in rose gold (16204OR) and yellow gold (16204BA), and 15202-generation pieces including the platinum 15202PT. Entry-level builds use Japanese movements; the upper tier carries Swiss clone movements, which matters more here than on most models because the genuine watch’s thinness and rotor feel are half the point. The openworked references are the hardest to execute and sit towards the top of the price band.
