The “Wimbledon” is a Rolex Datejust fitted with a slate (rhodium) grey dial and green Roman numerals outlined in black. The combination first appeared around 2009 on the 41 mm Datejust II and is carried today by the Datejust 41 — references 126300, 126334 and 126333 — with the dial also offered in the 36 mm range. It is a collector nickname; Rolex’s catalogue simply calls it a slate dial.
Why is it called the Wimbledon?
Rolex has been the official timekeeper of The Championships at the All England Club since 1978 — a partnership now in its fifth decade. When the slate-and-green dial appeared, dealers and forum users immediately read the green numerals as a nod to Centre Court and the club’s livery, and the name stuck. Rolex has never used it, never confirmed any tennis connection, and sells the watch without ceremony as a standard production Datejust. That has not stopped the Wimbledon becoming one of the most requested dials in the entire Datejust range, to the point where it often trades above other dial variants of the same reference on the secondary market.

Super clone availability
Grand Watch Club lists 10 Wimbledon-dial super clones, priced from £434 to £904. All are built on the 41 mm references — 126300 with smooth bezel on Oyster or Jubilee, and 126334 and 126333 with fluted bezels on Jubilee or Oyster bracelets. The spread reflects two movement tiers: Japanese-calibre builds open the range at £434, while the Swiss-movement super clones sit towards the £904 ceiling. Dial execution is the point of comparison on this model — the grey sunburst and the black outlining on the green Roman numerals are what separate a convincing example from a poor one.
