“Tiffany” means two different things in watch collecting. On Rolex it refers to the turquoise-lacquer Oyster Perpetual dial launched in September 2020 on the OP 41 (124300), OP 36 (126000) and OP 31 (277200), so called because the colour sits close to Tiffany & Co.’s robin’s-egg blue. On Patek Philippe it means a genuine Tiffany-stamped dial — most famously the Nautilus 5711/1A-018 of December 2021, made in a run of just 170 pieces.
Why is it called the Tiffany?
Tiffany & Co. has guarded its pale robin’s-egg blue since the nineteenth century, and any watch dial in that shade attracts the name whether the jeweller is involved or not. Rolex is not: the brand calls the colour simply turquoise blue, and the nickname is pure collector shorthand. The Patek connection is real. Tiffany has retailed Patek Philippe since 1851, and watches sold through its boutiques carry a double-signed dial. For the partnership’s 170th anniversary, Patek produced 170 examples of the Nautilus 5711/1A-018 with a Tiffany-blue dial; the first, sold for charity, fetched US$6.5 million at Phillips in December 2021 — roughly 120 times its US$52,635 list price. The Rolex side has its own scarcity story: the 41 mm turquoise OP was discontinued in 2022 after barely two years, and secondary prices moved to multiples of retail.
